The Wait
The route to Medak was newly constructed and smooth. It was a 4 lane highway, newly built and as traffic was low the cab was speeding on 80-100 kmph. Looked like the Infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh was on its course to be world class. I had already seen the Airport which was world class too.
It took 1.5 hrs to reach the factory in Medak. It was a large compound with employee's colony, Supermarkets, School, Playgrounds, fountains in the first 2 km of the compound It was so nice that once I thought I came to wrong place, though there was a board naming the factory so I was at right place. After completing around 3.5 kms on the main road of the compound, first official building which was Administrative building of the Factory came into view.
The building from its appearance and architecture looked like one built in mid 60's. It was a big straight building of 4 floors painted in red and white colour. There were big windows at regular intervals and a big main door. Some windows were installed with Air Conditioners. The compound and pathway leading to main door were green with trees of Ashok trimmed carefully to give them a shape of triangle and small flower plants at the corner of the pathway.
The main factory was around 1 km from the building, It had a huge gate in front of it with security office at the right hand side of the gate. I could see three to four armed gaurds sitting and passing time. These guards belonged to CISF (Central Industrial Security Force), a force especially trained to protect industrial institutions of the country from any threat and danger.
I let the cab past the gate for next 500 meters before starting another confusing and irritating conversation wtih my driver to turn and park at appropriate spot.
Me: Stop here.
Driver: Sir ikkada.
Me: Yes here, stop.
The vehicle stopped after completing 150 meters more.
Me: Take a u turn.
Driver: ------(he stared at me blankly)
Me: take a u turn (with my hands showed him by indicating what I want)
Driver: u turn...ok.
Driver: u turn...ok.
I directed him with my hands to park the cab around 500mtrs from the main gate of the factory.
From here I had a good view of the gate but my car being parked behind trees in the shade the guards or anyone else was not able to see me from there. I knew that the test would start around 12:30 in afternoon as per the update message I got over my mobile. So I started to wait.
But how could I pass time without any freaking unwanted things happening with me or around me. After around 10 mins of parking the car, I was keeping a eye on main gate of factory and reading a book,
Driver: Sir food.
Me: Food what?
Driver: Sir morning food no, hungry time.
Me: ok
Driver: You food.
Me: No, you take something.
Driver: where?
I looked around there was nothing there, only possible place where we could get something to eat was at colony supermarket, I looked at my watch it was 10:30 hrs, more than hour before test comences, so I said to him to take cab to colony and get some thing to eat.
We went to the colony where he ate idly sambhar at a roadside stall. I was feeling anciety again and was far from hungry. After 20-25 mins we return to our spot and started waiting again. I went back to my book reading and he to his sleep.
It was a frustating to wait for such a long time as test didn't start at time I expected, and then after waiting for 3 hours the factory gate opened...
